What ABC News app is

This app provides convenient mobile access to latest news and clips from well-known TV-shows, e.g. Good Morning America World News, Nightline, This Week and a lot more. You can receive push-notifications about breaking news in the USA and abroad. Learn more about entertainment, sports, economics, hi-tech, business, health and science in one handy app. We rate it with 9/10 for convenience, regular updates and content selection.

The interface can’t be called crystal clear and easy-to-understand right away yet esthetical and attractive. ABC News app for Android and iOS devices shows latest news and trends at the top, as a scrollable slide show. Below you can swipe through most popular headlines, get familiar with summaries and images. If you get this app for iPad, you can enjoy having a weather block and block with videos at the main page as well. I read user opinions about latest app update that changed once-neat and clear iOS and Android interface with a bunch of ads. In general, if you can imagine this free app without ads, it would be well-structured and user-friendly: in a few taps, you get deep into the story and perfectly understand what’s going on. My mark 9/10.

Performance and Usability

If you have something to say about this app and make own review – write me.

The app performance is stable, I noticed no bugs and crashes during a 5-day test on Android smartphone. The app functionality consists of:

  • Live streams for breaking news
  • Multitasking support: you can stream videos and browse text articles at the same time
  • Cache for offline reading
  • ABC News Radio to listen anywhere: works in the background, even if you actively use other apps
  • Customized push-notifications and alerts
  • ‘News Inbox’ function – do not miss top stories you are interested in.

However, the app sends a lot of notifications you might not be interested in, and in general, your smartphone looks a bit text-heavy when you use ABC news app. Our mark is 9/10.

Cross-platform use

The app works on Android devices with the system version 5.0 and later. Is also can be installed on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch with iOS 9.3 and up. No idea, why users of previous iOS versions are left off the board. 7/10 for platform support.

The Verdict

This app is recommended for people who want to be well-informed about latest news and situation in the country and in the world. However, similar news apps will do this task as well, but support more operation system versions and show fewer ads. Give it a try and compare with similar apps to see which one works better for you.

  • Free to use;
  • Push-notifications about most interesting stories;
  • Works in the background without taking too much memory.

  • Annoying ads that make the app too text-heavy;
  • Too many notifications if you haven’t customized them;
  • Doesn’t support a lot of older iOS versions.

Uncover issues before your customers do

I’ll test your utility app for its functionality, usability and consistency. I provide manual testing on Android and iOS – the physical devices, and use emulators for other OSes.
