If the Electro Dance Music, roaring crowds, upbeat tempos, tight basses and vinyl scratches give you a heartthrob, but you think that DJ equipment is too pricey these days – there’s a way out.
It’s Edjing Mix: DJ music mixer available for PC/iOS/Android – a neat and a bit tricky tool that you can apply to make your own smash hits.
Essentially this app is a miniature copy of a classic DJ-controller with two turntables. Apart from these signature turntables you have:
The app is compatible with SoundCloud, Deezer (premium only) and YouTube which means you can upload finished and polished masterpieces of yours directly to one of these online services. Or “borrow” music tracks from artists there in order to create a new mix.
You can organize the tunes you have on your device in playlists, and they will be sorted out automatically in alphabetical order or according to their BPM value/time length which is very convenient. The score is 10/10.
The visual aesthetics of the app are rather austere and candid but at the same time extremely elegant. The overall dark color palette – consisting of orange, grey and black – can be refreshed by a number of “handsome” skins:
I’m not sure about the rest of them, but neon theme looks pretty rad and even inspirational – it conveys a nightclub atmosphere.
In order to squeeze all you can out of this application, you’ll need a tablet, since manipulating the controls on a phone screen isn’t really comfortable. The bigger the screen, the better your creative experiments will go. The score of the features is 10/10.
Now what I really like about this app is the authentic (although simplified) DJing experience that it can give you. After all, the interface has been designed in cooperation with the well-seasoned pro-DJs.
All the buttons and faders are very responsive and easy to tweak; meanwhile the turntables are interactive, and you can play with them creating a special vibe, punctuated by scratches and other vinyl effects. But you should keep in mind that it’s a music production app which requires from you a bit of your time and effort to master all its ins and outs.
If you’re enthusiastic about DJing, then this app is your go-to. Before spending hundreds of dollars on real gear, you can get to feel what it’s really like to put different tunes together to make a brand new song. Also, you will learn either you’re going to be serious about this craft or not.
The apk is free to get, but it has ads. Moreover, the advanced sound effects will cost you extra bucks, and the same goes for the fancy skins.
I assume it’s the only major drawback of the app since it’s hard to create something genuinely catchy without applying more or less professional filters, reverb, flanger, etc. My mark of this point is 9/10.
The app is compatible with both platforms: Android 4.3 and iOS 9.0, compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. 10/10
Edjing Mix: DJ music mixer is an amazing tool that can give you hours of both fun and serious practice. And after you learn how to manipulate it, you can even play a DJ set at your friends’ party, using merely a tablet and a couple of speakers.

I’ll test your utility app for its functionality, usability and consistency. I provide manual testing on Android and iOS – the physical devices, and use emulators for other OSes.
