GLWiZ mobile app for Android and iOS is a WebTV service created by Iranian company Ava Telecom. It provides real-time TV broadcasting but initially was created to spread Iranian TV worldwide. Let’s figure out, how handy this app is, all about its features, navigation and performance and see, if it is worth your time or not.
Simplicity is the key. The app looks straightforward, lean and understandable to any user categories: from most to less experienced mobile users. You can watch television channels and listen to radio stations from all over the world directly from your smartphone or tablet via a high-speed Internet connection. Broadcasting with GLWiZ is available in multiple languages and enhances user viewing experience by providing online TV programs to any taste. The score is 8/10.
The design creates an impression as if you use old-school TV set and switch between channels – but I find it okay. Perhaps, it could have more functions desired by more savvy users, but it’s not about design, but about functionality. I enjoy minimalistic designs with clear buttons, and this app has it all. The buttons are square, large and colorful. They contain channel or program preview pics. The navigation between screens is simple and clear. The app is mostly installed in Asian countries, so it contains Persian, Arabic, Afghan, Chinese, Turkish and Kurdish packages that are displayed on the main screen. If you use the web version of the product, you can get access to Canadian and Portuguese packages as well.
After you select the necessary one, all you need to do is to find the channel or the radio station you are interested in the corresponding category. You can sort by countries, genre and other filters. That’s it. Play and watch. The interface deserves 10/10.
As I mentioned before, I highly appreciate simplicity and straightforwardness, but after installing the latest version of this free app users have one function to control: volume. You can choose between video or audio-only versions. When it comes to screen adjustment, changing contract, color or brightness of the picture – more experienced users will be disappointed, because there are simply no such controls.
For radio stream, the bitrate is chosen automatically and provides mediocre sound quality, even if better options can be available with your Internet connection. This app lacks standard online radio features that provide the title of the song and the album cover. Use Shazam, if you like something and want to know more about it.
No controls appear on the screen during the TV broadcast – you get the whole screen for your video.
A good thing about this app is simplified access to your homeland TV on Android and iOS mobile devices. This is great for migrants and those who learn Asian languages. During the app test, I have checked a few TV and radio channels to evaluate the broadcast quality and general app performance. The stream is rapidly fetched, the only problem is a video ad – but such things happen, when you get an app for free.
What shocked me most is no ‘Add to Favorites’ button in the menu, when you watch a TV-channel or listen to the radio. This is maximum 7/10.
You can get GLWiZ on Android 4.1 and up and on iOS 8.0 and up. For another platform, you may search for APK versions. My evaluation is 9/10.
The app can be recommended to those who live or are interesting in Asian TV on mobile devices. The product provides media content from Asian, African, Pacific region countries and China for Android and iOS use. The app is supported by most of the mobile OS versions and can be used my increased number of users – I recommend it for simplicity and availability. If you can stand lack of basic TV-set functions and enjoy the app on the play-and-watch basis – it’s great.

I’ll test your utility app for its functionality, usability and consistency. I provide manual testing on Android and iOS – the physical devices, and use emulators for other OSes.
