Metronome Beats – You Got The Rhythm. Read The Review!

Posted by on March 10, 2018

It’s hard to deny that all our existence is in truth dictated by some mysterious rhythm which we can hear everywhere: in a heartbeat, the sound of rain, breath, cat’s purring, etc.

Rhythm indeed organizes our whole existence, and Metronome Beats designed by Stonekick will help you perfect the sense of it.

What Metronome Beats Is

Metronome is a special tool that produces the repetitive and irreproachable rhythmic sound (in case you didn’t know). It will come extremely handy if you:

  •    Study music – rhythm is a backbone of any musical piece. It is strongly recommended to learn to play musical instruments by practicing to a slow tempo dictated by the metronome.
  •    Practice choreography.
  •    Work on your golf swings – smooth, measured moves greatly improve the golf technique.
  •    Enjoy jogging – an improved sense of rhythm helps to regulate breathing properly.
  •    Perfect your diction or rapping acapella.
  •    Practice martial arts etc.

Now all of the above-mentioned tasks become a bit easier since you have a metronome at your disposal right in your pocket with a wide list of customization options.

Some of them include:

  •    BPM function – ranges from 1 to 300 beats per minute. The tempo increase/decrease can be pre-programmed.
  •    Tap tempo button – in case you don’t know what tempo you need, you can just tap on this button with your finger to set it.
  •    Automatic stop – after a certain number of bars it stops clicking.
  •    A variety of clicking sounds – from the symphonic wooden claves to a sci-fi computer-like bleeping.
  •    Italian tempo terms (allegro, moderato) are displayed with their classical BPM values.
  •    “Go on” option – the metronome keeps clicking even when you exit the app which means you can read the music sheets simultaneously.
  •    Visible rhythm indicator – you can silence the app and follow the rhythm dictated by a red dot.
  •    Programmable song banks – in case you’re working on some musical compositions, you can make presets with the measure and tempo you need.
  •    Adjustable layout – the interface automatically becomes bigger whenever you launch it on a tablet or compact when on the phone.
  •    Timer – set the period during which you’ll need its clicking.

And many others.

By the way, I strongly recommend avoiding the wooden clave sound – it’s just the worst and almost never fails to give you a migraine.

As for the rest, the application is easily customizable, and you can adjust virtually everything in it to suit your needs. The score is 9/10.

Interface

The app can boast of a user-friendly, visually pleasant interface with a quiet, well-balanced color palette consisting of neutral black, grey and dark-green colors with bright red, yellow and orange dots that indicate the rhythm.

It’s quite intuitive and as I said earlier has an adjustable layout which is a huge plus. Controls are simple, scarce and ergonomic. It looks like they have been designed not to waste much of your time and give you an opportunity to start working with the metronome right away. The score is 10/10.

Performance and Usability

If you have something to say about this app and make own review – write me.

Metronome Beats worked steadily throughout the test and I didn’t encounter any problems. This is a great app. It got me through all the music grades I’ve taken to date. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a free metronome. You really don’t need much more than this. Admittedly I now use Tempo by Frozen Ape for my daily practice, but this is paid for (albeit only £0.65).

The apk is free to get however it’s crawling with ads as usual. To banish them for good you can upgrade to the Metronome Beats Pro version for $2.70.

I swear I rarely, almost never say this but buying this app would be a sound and reasonable investment if you need to apply the metronome on a regular basis. The app is great, so the mark of this point is 10/10.

Cross-Platform Use

The app is only compatible with Android 2.3 and up devices. Due to this, my mark is 7/10.

Verdict

Metronome Beats is a rare example of a mobile application that has been – first of all – designed for people. It won’t leave you unimpressed with its splendid customization options and overall ease-of-use and what’s even better is it works well even in a free version. It definitely deserves the score of 10/10.
