Every iPhone, iPad and Android-powered device is equipped with a voice recording application by default. However, these innate apps are quite humble and lack both audio quality and some functions that might prove to be handy in the long run.
Voice Recorder designed by Green Apple Studio claims to be an effective tool, offering an impressive list of useful options. Let’s see if it stands behind these words.
Unlike most of its rivals on the market, this app really knows how to handle HD voice-recording. This statement can be proved by a noticeable number of audio-formats supported:
Compare it to a generic voice recorder embedded into Android OS by default and see the difference!
This tool comes extremely handy if:
And of course, this app would be irreplaceable if your profession is somehow related to interviewing people – journalism, law, HR, etc. An additional bonus is that the microphone signal reception can be calibrated by you manually.
Perhaps, the most commendable function of the app is that it’s compatible with various messengers (Skype), e-mail services (G-mail) and even Dropbox and Google Drive. So should you have any compromising materials on a corrupt senator recorded, you don’t have to worry about losing your device – simply send the audio file to one of these services. The score of the functionality is 9/10.
Alas but visually this app loses on all fronts. Its design reminiscent of the desktop applications produced in Windows Millennium/XP epoch. If there was such thing as beauty contest among voice-recording apps – Voice Recorder would finish last.
Poorly balanced color palette, blank and unpleasant background – definitely it’s one of these things that does the job well but never claims to be elegant or fancy. Like a pickup truck. The score of the interface is 2/10.
However, the controls are easy-to-master and intuitive. You have record/pause/stop buttons, settings and voice memos. In the latter category, you can rename/delete/share the recordings you made. Humble, simple and effective.
All in all the functionality of the app is genuinely good, but sometimes it suffers from glitches. Especially when you’re trying to record a phone call – it can stop working on its own for reasons unknown. So if you need to record a phone conversation, I suggest you apply another app.
The app is free for everyone however it may bug you with ads. So far it is unknown either the developing team will offer a subscription option to get rid of the exasperating advertisements or not. The score of the performance is 5/10.
The app is compatible only with Android. The score is 8/10.
Green Apple Studio’s Voice Recorder provides crystal clear audio quality of the recordings that might be used for business/educational/leisure purposes. It’s free, uncomplicated, and user-friendly (although a bit ugly).
But the customization options and audio formats it provides greatly compensate unappealing visual design thus making the app an indispensable tool.

I’ll test your utility app for its functionality, usability and consistency. I provide manual testing on Android and iOS – the physical devices, and use emulators for other OSes.
